Let’s dive into the month’s highlights—and I use the term loosely.
Flu-ridden and Fumbling
Kicking off 2025 in true style, I spent the first two weeks of January battling the flu. Not the “bit of a sniffle” kind, either—this was full-on, can’t-tell-your-tea-from-your-soup territory. Brain fog was real, and unfortunately, it spilled into my work. Case in point: I made a proper gaffe with some DNS records that I definitely knew how to do on a non-flu-ravaged day. Lesson learned: Don’t tinker with tech when you’re 80% Beechams and 20% toast. Or have someone explain what they need in telly-tubby language to account for you being an utter moron that day. I did get it fixed but you know it just makes me feel bad about fucking it up in the first place!
A Fresh Start (Literally)
In non-flu news, I’ve started a new redesign project this month, which is always exciting. It’s a full re-design/development from the ground up there’s nothing quite like taking someone’s tired old website and giving it a brand-new lease on life. Stay tuned—this one’s shaping up to be a belter.
Ikea and Other Adventures
In an attempt to make my space a little more ahem organised, I ventured to Ikea (probably where I picked up the flu). And let me tell you, navigating that maze of furniture while trying not to get sidetracked by a large DJUNGELSKOG or the cafe was quite the experience (last time I went to Ikea I came home with a belly full of meatballs and a BLÅHAJ). I did eventually manage to grab my new practically floor-to-ceiling bookcase and assemble it, only to have Rasputin immediately claim the top shelf as his new throne. Now, he likes to sit up there watching me work—or more accurately, plotting how to destroy my plants. Yes, I also have a new batch of plant babies (some more succulents and some spider pants) I swear thats becomming and addiction, hopefully they will survive if Rasputin doesn’t nibble them to death.
Organised Office Space, Finally!
In my quest for organisation (and avoiding further trips to Ikea), I managed to completely reorganise my ‘office’ space to make it more functional. It’s now a much more useful place for both work and gaming. After I finish a day of web design, I just spin around and dive straight into The First Descendant—because what’s better than unwinding with a good looter shooter after a productive day? And before anyone comes after me for calling it good its much better than it was on launch okay! Some of the outfits are questionable though..
Yes thats one of my characters ‘Bunny’ wearing a .. wait for it Nun’s outfit I do have a dog in the game though so its all fine, and you can’t see it but theres a black cat in a carrier on my back (it’s so adorable) lol
What’s Next?
Now that the flu fog has cleared, February is looking promising. I’ll be working away on this site re-design and revamp, and I’m finally feeling human again. Bring on the projects, minus the tissues, sore throat and cough.
